CDC standard-bearer Ambassador George Weah has arrived in the country with a vow to win the 2011 election.
Addressing his supporters at the party’s Congo Town headquarters Friday, Ambassador Weah said the 2011 election will be a win-win situation.
George Weah told the gathering he had a fruitful discussion with Cllr. Charles Brumskine in Ghana Thursday night.
He said the talks focused on the collaboration of political parties for a possible merger ahead of the 2011 elections.
The CDC standard-bearer did not however say if he was willing to be second to any politician but maintained a political merger was the best option for Liberia.
Ambassador Weah’s comment followed media reports that he has agreed to be a running mate to Cllr. Charles Brumskine of the Liberty Party.
Meanwhile, Star Radio has received a copy of the joint communiqué signed in Accra, Ghana between Ambassador George Weah and Cllr. Charles Brumskine.
According to the communiqué, Weah and Brumskine have agreed to run on the same ticket in the 2011 general and presidential elections.
The communiqué further agreed to engage every opposition grouping in the country with the aim of enlisting its support.
The Accra document did not however say who will serve as Standard-bearer of the Weah-Brumskine ticket.
The one-page Accra Communiqué is signed by Cllr. Charles Brumskine as Political Leader of the Liberty Party and Ambassador George Weah as Standard-bearer of the CDC.
