Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC)
people during Liberia’s nearly sixteen years of bloody civil war.
He also called on his fellow compatriots not to vote into power candidates who have been banned or recommended for prosecution.
He further indicated that those who have power are exercising it in a way that would make the TRC recommendations irrelevant.
The former TRC boss made the statement Wednesday during a local radio talk show, where he was invited to share his perspectives on a number of issues regarding the TRC, including the recent decision of the Supreme Court of Liberia.
In its ruling, the Supreme Court of Liberia nullified the recommendations of the TRC, terming it ‘unconstitutional’.
The TRC had earlier recommended that President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf be banned for 30 years and also recommended that all warlords be prosecuted.
In the same document, the TRC also recommended reparation and palava hut meeting where an indictee can seek forgiveness and be pardoned.
