The House of Representatives has finally approved the 2010/11 budget with an increment of over twenty-two million US dollars.
The House increased the budget from a little over 347 million to 369 million, 379 thousand US dollars.
In its session Thursday, the House said the increment reflected additional revenues derived during the budget review.
The revenues were derived from the vetting of government’s bank balance, BHP Billiton and the Liberia Revenue Code.
The House Finance Committee Chairman said the extra twenty two million dollars was distributed among some government entities.
Representative Emmanuel Nuquay said additional allocations were made to the Public Works Ministry, Security, Education and Health sectors.
Lawmaker Nuquay insisted there was no increment in the budget of the Legislature despite reports of an additional 2.5 million increment.
On the issue of the rise in the salary of civil servants, he also said there was no increment.
The approval of the budget by the House comes four Months after a review by the joint Legislative budget committee of the House and Senate.
The Senate is now due to take a concurrence vote on the budget by the House by next week.
